I am a slave to thievery. A victim of my past. A casualty of Gotham city.

A common kleptomaniac.

In Paris, I tried to prove to myself that I could look a score in the face and walk away from it. I couldn't, and I learned two things about myself.

One is that I'm compelled to steal, it's in my blood.

The other is that in some strange way. the stealing protects me.

It's how I survive.

Without the instinct, I might not have ever made it out of the orphanage. Out of childhood.

I stole a life for myself.

So be it.
